Honest 2 cents on blue dye tests

Yeah.. that's a bad test. Some people would misinterpret that as a positive (which is what the company would say, I garauntee it) but in the directions, it should say something about missing parts of the line being inconclusive.

& yes, Misinterpret That's what they say on all the commercials.. "1 in 4 women will misread a typical pregnancy test" blah blah.. some more balooooooney to save their hides! It's a shame.

But in my blue dye Walgreens test it DID say that in the directions. It said it needed to be a solid blue line.

I wish I kept the stuff for my blue dye tests to see if any of them said that! Interesting it did say that.

All of the blue dye I have used have never been solid, they were always solid on one part and then shadowish on the other. I guess that is how I explain it.

They wouldnt misinterpret it if it wasnt so easy to do so! I mean come on it says 2 lines pg 1 line not, that has 2 lines!

Edit: Jena, I meant to say that somewhere in the instructions it's should say that it's inconclusive / faulty if the line is not solid. I mean, it WILL be there. It's supposed to. Thanks for saying what I meant to!

Miles: I know.. I'm saying that the company will tell someone who calls that only a doctor can 100% tell you yes or no. I think something's getting lost in communication here.. and it seems like what I'm saying isn't being understood.

However, That's more reason to not use Blue dye if the control line isn't even solid, that should render the test invalid. I wouldn't waste my $ on them, simply knowing all the trouble people have had.

These are the exact instructions from the Equate Early Result Pregnancy Test (blue dye):

How to read results: You can read your results after 2 minutes. A blue line will appear in the Control Window indicating the test has worked. A blue line in the Control Window and a blue line in the Result Window indicates a positive result. A blue line in the Control Window and no line in the Result Window indicates a negative result. If after 10 minutes NO line appears in the Control Window, the result is invalid. Repeat with a new Early Result Pregnancy Test. DO NOT read result after 10 minutes.

The number off of the box is 1-800-899-7353. They are made in the UK, assembled in China and packaged in the US (according to the insert).... so.... who knows who is really accountable.

Obviously these directions do not go in to detail as to what "qualifies" as a line.

Your best bet is to stick with the pink dye tests. I bought these by accident and ended up having to go to $ tree to get a pink dye test after I took the one I posted. The box of three blue dye tests was 10 bucks to begin with.

I have the Mirena IUD, but get spooked time to time since AF hasn't made an appearance in quite some time.

ETA: The insert also says to consult a health care professional if you get a positive result, get an inconclusive test result, or if you get a negative test but 'feel' pregnant.

I realize it has been 4 months since any activity on this thread, but I found it by searching "false equate" pictures in google, because the same thing has happened to me now.

My husband and I have been ttc naturally for 4 years, and I KNEW better than to pick the blue dye. I didn't realize till AFTER I took the test and got the line that it was blue. I had heard all the negative info about the blue dye over at peeonastick, but I figured since it was last updated 4 years ago, surely it would be more accurate NPW.

I figured wrong. TTC for 4 years. Have never. ever. ever. had a line. I got this yesterday morning at 11dpo and freaked out. Told hubby. He told his family (I had the gut instinct to wait and told NO ONE). This AM, with FMU- neg equate, neg FRER. I'm not out and down for the count as it is only 12dpo, but it was heartwrenching to see a line for the first time in 4 years... only to find out: nope. Sorry. "Evap line" that appeared within 2 minutes and has stayed for the past 30 hours. I did not "misread" the test. It appeared within 2 MINUTES, guys!!

Sorry, just angry. Will attach the pic. Hope this helps someone else in the same boat a few months down the road.

I'm so sorry. I wouldn't count yourself out, yet, but it does look too thin to be a true positive. I got a line just like that on a blue dye, and it was definitely BFN.
