can I sub soy/hemp/rice milk for cow milk in recipes?
hey mama, quick question
can I substitute soy milk or hemp milk (or even rice milk) instead of cow milk in my recipes? ds has a dairy allergy and I'm going to try to do some baking/meal freezing. thanks

Re: can I sub soy/hemp/rice milk for cow milk in recipes?
Yep.
Soy milk makes things more moist than milk. Never tried hemp milk. Almond milk works the same. Rice milk seems to make things dryer but I think that's due to the lower fat content. I also seem to use more to make things the right consistency. If you are making something savory, you can also just sub chicken broth for the milk. Makes really yummy mashed potatoes & dumplings ![]() Ami

We use soy for everything, soymilk is so yummy! Haven't had/used cows milk for anything in years. Every recipe has worked for me with soymilk. I've never tried hemp, and I can't STAND almond milk. Tried for the first time when I was prego, then never again!
