Whole Wheat Bread?

Does anyone have a good simple recipe for whole-wheat bread? I tried substituting my whole wheat flour for white flour (and adding gluten) but it didn't work. I need a recipe with not to many ingredients. Most of the ones I'm looking up online call for tons of different ingredients, and I don't want to invest in all of that if it's not going to turn out! FYI: I usually prep the dough in my bread maker, then knead it myself for a second time and bench proof it in pans before baking. Is that the problem? Thanks!

here is what I use and I have trouble with anything but this brand of flour rising for some reason (this is a bread machine recipe, I use a zojirushi)
2 cups water
5 cups (king arthur) white whole wheat flour
3Tbs sugar or 5Tbs honey
2Tbs dried milk
1.5 tsp salt
4 Tbs vital gluten
2Tbs butter
3tsp bread machine or rapid rise yeast (a little more than a packets worth)

I haven't tried it but I'm pretty sure you could use milk for some of the water and skip the dried milk and I've swapped honey for sugar before and increased it and still comes out fine
If I can't get that specific flour I sub 2 cups of the whole wheat for white bread flour
I've had terrible luck with wheat flours but making it this way reliably makes a nice 2# loaf or 2 1# loaves
