Can I dye bamboo velour with kool-aide?

I have enough leftover bamboo velour for inner and outer of 2 fitteds. It is the natural color. I have my patterns cut and waiting to be sewn. Can I dye it with kool-aide? Before or after sewing? How do I do this? Will it bleed in the wash on other dipes?

No, it will wash right out of plant fibers. You need something like Dylon (cheap at Walmart and craft stores) or Procion (the good stuff order online).

Yeah kool-aid is a acid dye, it will take to wool & silk really well but not the bamboo, I agree with PP go Dylon or Procion from dharmatradingco.com

Ok then! Is it better to dye a finished dipe or the fabric before it's sewn?

I recently dyed some bamboo/cotton fleece with Dylon's "Caribbean Blue" - here is how they turned out. I just followed the instructions on the package. I washed and dryed the fabric twice before dying, dyed it, then made the diaper set.

Awesome, thanks, I have some bamboo velour scraps left over from a diaper order and wondered about dying it to make pads. Dylon is on sale at Joann's right now ... http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog.j...RODID=prd45370
