I just mix butter, confectioners sugar, milk, and vanilla/almond/whatever you like. Add a few drops of food coloring if you want too.

I love the cool whip (8 oz container) , 1 pack of instant pudding, and 1 cup of milk recipe. Mmmmmmmmmmmm!

It is my guilty pleasure bc otherwise I do not eat cool whip.

Re: Good easy icing recipe

Here is a recipe from a cake decorating book I have. I have used it several times and really like it.
Buttercream Icing:
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup water-
1/2 pound butter (softened by leaving out at room temperature)
2 pounds powdered sugar
1tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup egg whites

1. In saucepan, bring sugar and water to 212 degrees on stove top (I dont check temps I just stir it until it disolves.)
2. In Mixing bowl, combine butter, 1 pound of sugar, vanilla, salt and egg whites.
3. Alternate adding boiled sugar water with remaining powdered sugar into icing mixture.

This recipe has a few more steps than some that I have tried but I love the way it taste and the way it spreads!

Re: Good easy icing recipe

You could always half the ingreidients in the previous post if you dont need that much!
Here is a good one for chocolate you or someone else may enjoy now or later

2/3 Cup of butter, softened
1/3 Cup of unsweetened cocoa
4 cups powdered sugar
3 to 5 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla

1. In large mixing bowl creambutter until light and fluffy.
2. Blend cocoa into creamed butter
3. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating well after each addition
Add milk and vanilla. Beat until blended.

ENJOY
