Thanks again!

I definitely understand where you are coming from!!! I had pit with my first and it was awful. Quite honestly comparing my 2nd birth that begin on it's own to my induce 1st birth I would say my 2nd birth was painless

Re: Water birth question

I would never have another baby on dry land. EVER!

I was in transition before I hit the water, things were going waaay too fast with #4, and the change in pressure alone was nearly orgasmic.

Re: Water birth question

I have had 8 waterbirths, would never birth out of water. I have had a few contractions out of water in transition. They were 10 times more painful than in water.

Re: Water birth question

Just thought I'd share a link that I found helpful when making the decision myself - http://entergently.homestead.com/Thracebirthstory.html . It's Kelly's (of Kozy mei tai) most recent UC birth story. She didn't have a waterbirth this time because she thought there may have been some downsides to her previous waterbirths but in the end, she thought that birthing on dry land was harder. I actually thought of her story while I was in labor, lol.

Re: Water birth question

I so wish our hospital was equipped for water births. I am so jealous of you mama's who get to have them. Does sitting in a hot/warm shower help with the contraction pain at all?

Read up through this thread, and you'll see that the mamas who have done it have said that it's a world of difference. And the mamas who have done both, have said that they will never birth outside of the water again.

If your hospital is not equipped for water birth, have you tried to see if there is a birthing center near you? Most birthing centers have one, at least that's what I discovered here when I started doing research. The water birth is the MAIN thing that made me choose the birthing center.

Good luck and God bless,
Michelle
