we posted at the same time
![]() That is a great price for what it all includes, and she's gonna remember the trip for her whole life. it's probably a great opportunity. but yeah, it's expensive for a large family on one income. ![]()

Re: $600 too much for school FT?
Holy geez, I'd feel like it was $6000, too.
![]() DS went on a skiing trip in 6th grade, but that was only $30. Granted, it was just for a day/night and they came home and it's only a couple hours from here. I remember going to D.C. when I was in 5th grade for a singing group I was in, but I think we did fundraising to help. It was an AWESOME trip that I'll never forget. Did you just find out about the trip? If so, I'd be peeved big time. We knew about DS' ski trip for months before it happened, so I'm HOPING that if/when they have a big field trip like your DD's we'll have plenty of notice.

we found out about the trip during orientation on september 1st. i dont have any friends with kids already attending that school so i was caught unaware. however i've since learned that this is a yearly trip and there was a percentage of parents who already knew about it beforehand. ![]() |

Re: $600 too much for school FT?
I didn't read all the replies so someone might have suggested it. I think it is ridiculous to expect the parents to pay out of pocket that much for a field trip... when I was a kid we always did fundraisers that the parents helped out with to defray the cost... car washes, bake sales, $1 candy bars etc. I was in private schools that my parents were already paying per month though if that makes any difference.

Re: $600 too much for school FT?
I'm suprised they aren't doing a type of fundraiser...school yard sale or something.
We haven't gotten tothat point yet...but it would be hard for us to come up with the money. Heck, the $32 a month on rental (trombone) is making me cringe! |
