LWI prefolds question

I am going to dye some prefolds this weekend (maybe even tonight!) and was wondering if I should dampen the prefolds like you normally would if you were dying them or should I leave them dry! Any help would be great thank you!!

I have LWI dyed things both ways. So i guess im really no help. But a PF is so thick that i thik you sould dampen them.

What is more vibrant color wise or doesn't it make a difference? Thats my biggest thing is that I don't want them to look dull.

The dryness or dampness of the prefolds won't affect how vibrant the color is. The concentration of the dye solution does. Are you using Dylon or are you using like the fiber reactive dyes from Dharma? You'll want to make sure that there's a pretty high dye-to-water ratio and that'll give you some nice, bright colors.

I "LWI" dyed mine dry, and they didn't come out looking crackly like is typical of a LWI garment, but I am pleased w/ how bright they came out. I did them in layers and would put a bunch of diapers in a tote, then squirt some random dye, then put some more diapers, then squirt some random dye, etc. I added the soda ash solution at the very end, just barely enough to get the whole thing wet.
