Blood in poop and when wiping??!

My 5 yr old went #2 last night, and when I wiped, it was sorta slimey feeling (sorry) so I thought he had the runs. When I looked at the TP it wasnt poop, it was blood. Not like a little streak, but more like a big smear.

WTH is that all about? I tossed the tp in before taking a good look at his poop, but from waht I did see, it looked like normal (meaning it was formed, not runny)

I did give him apple juice at dinner and he told me not to give him that because it makes his belly hurt (he always poops from juice) so I dont know if it made him have to go and then he had to strain to get it out?

Once I wiped him, the blood didn't keep coming, I wiped him again to be sure.

Do you think that its just from straining? I asked him if it was hard to get out and he said he had to push hard, but I dont know if he fully understood me.

Re: Blood in poop and when wiping??!

I'd call your ped. Usually they are interested if it is wet blood, not dry blood.

Has it happened since? If not, I would say it was from straining.
