Fenugreek and Dogs (just in case this happens to anyone else)

I wasn't sure if or where to post this but over the weekend my dog (54# mixed breed) ate my entire nearly full bottle of fenugreek (approx 50 grams-normal dog dose is 3.5 grams for a very large dog) we called animal poison control and $60 later we were told to induce vomiting (2 slices of bread followed by 3TBS of hydrogen peroxide, 1tsp of something to flavor it a little playtime and 15 minutes get the picture) and check on him every 2-3 hours for signs of hypoglycemia- listless, drunkeness. We were lucky and the dog is all better now but I thought since fenugreek is recommended a lot and there are a lot of folks with dogs maybe I would save them the $60. Hope you never need to know this

Re: Fenugreek and Dogs (just in case this happens to anyone else)

My dog ate Simply Sleep once and I FREAKED. Called out vet's 24 hour line at 11pm and he was so annoyed because it's apparently just Benadryl. I helped the dog toss back about half a shot of Hydrogen Peroxide and shut her in the shower. She wasn't happy, but my mind was at ease!

I didn't know that dogs had a recommended dosage of Fenugreek though.
Sorry you had to go through that. I know it is scary because they are like our kids too!

Wow, that's scary. Glad your dog is okay.
