View Poll Results: How should we "spell" her name?
We have decided on a name for baby if its girl, but I wanted some opinions on what you think would be best out of the three options. I am leaning towards the hyphen, but not sure if that would be a pain for her when she is older.

Pretty name! I think if you want her to go by Emma (or at least you don't mind and expect people to shorten it to Emma anyway...) then name her Emma and give her the middle name Lynn. But, if you are really wanting her to be called Emmalynn then I would spell it as one name, because it's less likely that people will shorten it then. My name is Emily... but for a time as child I wished it was Emma-Lee just to be a little different! Not that that has ANYTHING to do with your poll, it just reminded me of that moment from my childhood, lol

Emma Lynn and call her by both..some may shorten it though. We wanted to call our DD Hailey Grace..and most of the family does..but I rarely do lol It kinda went backwards.
I voted for the 2 seperate names, you can call her both names from birth and it will stick. She will have to tell teachers and such the first day of school/etc. but otherwise I think it will work out great. It will also be the easiest way for paperwork etc.

Maker of All Natural and Organic Baby Teething "Sticks". Don't give your little one those pasty messy store bought teething biscuits, ask me for "A Better Baby Biscuit"! ISO: Boyish Hudson hat, Scrappy's, Crankies - I can also trade skirties or dipes...I would have to make them, so you could pick out of my fabrics!

I think we will mainly be calling her Emma, but I love the fullness of Emmalynn and want to give her more options as an older child/person.
I love your little story! My name is Megan but spelled Meaghan and I love that it is different then most girls of the same name

If you want to name her Emma Lynn, I would do just that. A hyphen only complicates things unnecessarily, and I've just never cared for the look of "smooshed-together" names, personally. Please note: I LOVE double names ... just wouldn't be one to go for Emmalynn as one name. Seems to lose a bit of its class and charm, in my mind.
Another option would be less common classic Emmeline, which can have the same pronunciation. I adore EM-e-leen, or even throwback pronunciation EM-a-line, but I've heard it said EM-a-lyn as well.
Hey! I voted on the hyphen... but im quite annoying that way! lol my sons name is 'Michael' but it's spelled 'Mikul'.
Also when thinking of baby girl names for our dd due in dec, we thought about 'Brooklyn' but was going to spell it 'Brook-Lynn' so we could put another name in it for a middle name, yet still have the choice of calling her 'Brooke' without actually shortening the name.
Since then, we have came up with our for sure name though, which is totally different then brooklyn lol....
Her name will be 'Macaela Rae' (pronuced makayla ray)... but again, Im just funny with trying to be different with names!
