Re: A little name help please :)

I think that EmmaLynn Rebekah is beautiful! When I was pregnant with my DD, I had her name narrowed down to two choices as I wanted to wait until she was born to officailly pick her name. One of my choices was EmmaLea Ruthanne. Although I ended up using my second choice - Elizabeth Leanne - I find myself at times wishing I had chosen EmmaLea Ruthanne. Oddly enough, she has ended up being called Libbie and it fits her to a tee!
Congratulations on your upcoming arrival and best of luck to you!

I voted for Emma Lynn. It's such a cute name! I knew a little girls name that was Emma Leigh and her parents called her that, and I always thought her name was Emily!

I voted other...I like Emmalin or Emmaline. You could still shorten it to Emma. I just like those spellings. It's a beautiful name any way you spell it.

My name is Kellie, and growing up, I always hated having a funny spelled name. No one spelled it right. I was just soo irritating. I voted for the two separate names. I know it is not quite the same thing as having a funnily spelled name, but I still like the 2 separate names.

Meant to mention that in my original reply -- coming from yet another "not Kelly" (Kelli). ROFL Incredibly annoying to have a very popular name with an uncommon spelling, and with Emma being in the top THREE the past six years, and similar-sounding Emily top three the past decade-and-a-half, I'd just find Emma-Lynn, Emmalynn, EmmaLynn a bit too "we wanted to be different despite choosing a very popular name." Like my parents -- not throwing stones! Emma alone and Emma Lynn as a double name with Rebekah as a middle are just lovely!

FWIW -- and I know it wasn't one of your options, but since it was mentioned -- the random mid-name capitalization of something like EmmaLynn always reminds me of something you might see in, say, my 14-year-old cousin's Facebook profile. Trying to be cute by posting something about "ChiLliN'" with her friends at the mall (a recent entry ) ... fine for a preteen/teen, but probably not something she'd write on her resume at 30. If that makes sense. It's rather early and I've not had much sleep. LOL

Re: A little name help please :)

We had a *very* similar issue in April I loved Emmaline, but wanted to tribute my mom (Lynne) and go with Emmalynne, or Emma Lynne. DH doesn't like my mom, didn't like Lynne, and said that Emmalynne sounded too much like Ritalin, or some other medication. My BFF seconded this DH liked Emmaline, but we both thought the spelling was a little too masculine, and so we went with Emmalyne (pronounced EM-ma-LINE). She has 2 middle names too but they are separated. I think if DH would have gone for Emmalynne, I would have separated it into a 1st and middle name, b/c she could go by Emmalynne, Emma or Lynne. BTW, I don't think she's ever been called Emmalyne yet, lol, her DSs called her Baby Honey for the longest time, then started calling her Emma Bean which has since been shortened to Bean. Poor thing is probably so confused about who she is Oh & BTW I love the name Rebekah (my sister's name) & I'm all for multiple middle names

Re: A little name help please :)

I like it as one name unless you don't plan to give her a middle name. I have a friend whose name was Lorilee and but everyone called her Lori. Filling out paperwork for school, etc. was always a challenge because they insist on giving you a middle initial. I would think you would have the same issue with the hyphen. If you don't want a middle name, I'd go with Emma Lynn. If you have a different middle name, Emmalynn is beautiful.

Re: A little name help please :)

i like emma-lynn. but if you go with that, will you have a middle name as well? for some reason, emmalynn reminds me of evalyn and people will probably pronounce it wrong. it depends on which syllable you want the emphasis. if you have it hyphened the emphasis is on the "lynn" and together the emphasis will be on the "emma". am i making any sense? lol

Re: A little name help please :)

I voted Emma Lynn, but I am partial because that is my DD's name. We also named her after a relative, my Grandmother was Marilynn but always went by Lynn, and she passed away just a few weeks before DD was conceived. That is part of the reason we kept the name seperate. I thought of hyphenating though, making her name Emma-Lynn Grace, but that would have made her initials EGG, and my DH really just wanted her to be Emma Lynn. We do try to call her Emma Lynn, but most of the time we end up shortening it to Emma, but really that is personal preference.
If you really want to you can always give her 2 middle names.
