my 2 year old dd had her 12 month set of shots on Oct 27th. is it safe for her to get the h1n1 shot this saturday morning? we have decided to get the vax because of the asthma problems in this house and we cant live in a bubble forever! also my son had fever and aches on thursday from 130am and work up totally fine today without using tylon. the doc did give us tamiflu incase he was starting h1n1 as we had been close by it, but i had only given him 1 dose at this point. should he wait too? the only info i found on this was if someone had influenza moderate to severe they should wait. i'll being lining up early and dh will bring the kids closer to it being our turn.
** also we are in canada**

Re: getting the h1n1 vax soon after regular vaxing?
Depends on what shots DD had. I was told if you get the reg seasonal flu vax then they have to be spaced 4 weeks apart. DS got his seasonal flu (2 doses) that had to be 4 weeks apart and he has to wait another 4 weeks if I decide to give him the h1n1. Also if she got her MMR then I think there is a waiting period too but you'll have to ask her ped for the best answer!

Re: getting the h1n1 vax soon after regular vaxing?
Personally, I would wait at least 4-6 weeks between vaccinations. She already received at least 4 viruses (Im assuming she got the MMR and Varicella), adding another one to her system so soon might be a recipe for disaster. If you can, I would hold off until the end of November at the earliest. Jmo :-)

When we got our h1n1 at a clinic they specifically asked how long it had been since my son's last set of vaccinations, and it had to be at least 4 weeks. He made it by 1 week, as he'd also had his 12 month appointment.

Re: getting the h1n1 vax soon after regular vaxing?
I hope I don't scare any mamas to death, but my mom's ex-boyfriend (a neurosurgeon) told my mother that many vaccines given at the same time or within a short period of time can severely affect the brain. He truly believed overvaccination was the main cause of the high number of ADD and autism in children today. As a result, I decided my son to have just the fewest amount of recommended vaccines and just one or two at the time so his immune system has a chance to metabolize them properly.
Re: getting the h1n1 vax soon after regular vaxing?
We were planning to get the H1N1 vaccine for my DD, again because of asthma concerns. We ended up getting H1N1 in the interim, so we don't have to get it. But our plan was to get the H1N1 vaccine and then delay her 1 year shots to the spring, I am nervous putting vaccines too close together, I think it is too much for their little immune systems to process.

We have asthma concerns here too but none of us are getting the vaccine. We are a very holistic family and we regularly see an accupunturist. I have no fear that if we have any problems with this flu that she will help us through the worst of it.
If you were around in the 1970's you have natural immunity to the flu that doesn't help the kids but there is no guarantee that the vaccine will work either and won't cause side effects that are bad.
I really feel sometimes that we are being scared into giving our kids vaccines that they don't need.

Re: getting the h1n1 vax soon after regular vaxing?
My LO is 7 months old. She had her first seasonal flu dose, 3 weeks later had the H1N1, and about two weeks after that is having her second dose of the seasonal flu. No reactions.
There is NO scientific evidence that vaccines cause neurological issues.
If you want to skip one, skip the seasonal. The flu that most children are catching is the H1N1. The complications are just too scary to me. I won't leave my daughter unprotected.
