c-section infection

I had a c-section on Oct 14th, so just over 3 weeks ago. Everything was healing fine but now my incisionis red and sore in one area. I am overweight and this is my 3rd section. I am pretty sure that this is a yeast infection because no air is getting through to it. I try as much as possible to lay flat on my back and let it air out but with 3 kids I can't do it that often. Is there something that I can put on it to help keep it dry?

Re: c-section infection

Keep toweling yourself off down there as much as you can to keep as dry as you can. Talk to your dr because there are meds you can use if it is a yeast infection. I hope that it gets better soon.

Re: c-section infection

My incision got infected. One thing my doctor told me to do to help keep moisture off of the incision is to blow dry it on low after showers and periodically throughout the day. Mine was oozing some nastiness, too, so she told me to put a panty liner on the top of my underwear so that it absorbed some of it.

I did that in the hospital after I had my daughter I had a pad on my incision because it kept oozing the first couple of weeks after DD was born.

Yes, I put a pad on it. Please call your doctor though, you don't want to let it get too far. My infection after my last baby was the worst pain of my life!

Thank you!
I am going to the doctors this tuesday, I am just trying to make sure it doesn't get worse before then.

Blow dryer and a pad or wash cloth over the infected area works great. Just remember to change it often!

Re: c-section infection

I lifted the skin and stood in front of the fan to dry the area out as much as possible. I also placed a tshirt on my belly and then folded it into the incision area to stop moisture.

HTH's I know it is a pain!

With my CS in July I found out that I have an allergy to the sutures they used. I had a rash all over my incision site that felt like it had fire set to it.

Re: c-section infection

I got an infection after my c-sec with DD and it was the worst pain ever, and unfortunately I let it go too long because I thought the redness wasn't a big deal. It turned out that I had an infection under the skin and it actually pulled my incision apart on one side. Definitely get it looked at by your doc! Like the PPs said, make sure it's clean and dry and if you can get your hands on it, try using Hibicleanse in the incision area. Good luck, I hope it gets better for you!

Re: c-section infection

I have been letting it air out as much as I can and it is already MUCH better. All the redness is gone and it is no longer sore at all. Thanks for the help!!!
