We have a Protege it's DH's car. We haven't been able to fit 3 car seats in it but we haven't gone so far as to try different models of car seats either.
Our situation is different than yours though. We have a 13 yr old and a 2 1/2 yr old. On the weekends we have my younger sister's kids only one of them requires a car seat. If we have to go any where we need to take 2 vehicles. The bigger boys hate being squeezed in the back between the car seats. Our car isn't paid off either but when the next baby comes we will have to get a bigger vehicle. There are just too many other kids to fit in the car! LOL
We do love our Protege though. It's a great car and we will keep it even when we get a bigger vehicle.
