How would you feel if it was reversed, and you were the one who didn't pay and she contacted your mother?

I'm not excusing what she did, but scamming people doesn't make her family open game.

I'm sorry that happened to you

I don't think you did anything wrong contacting her mom. She was completely negligent in keeping up her end of the transaction. If your email to her mom was cordial, then what's the big deal? I think she deserves a bit of family humiliation after what she's done.

ETA: If I found out that one of my kids did something like that, they'd never hear the end of it

Therein lies the difference, I wouldn't not pay. And if my mom ever found out that I was doing dishonest things boy I'd be in big trouble!

Oh, and I didn't get her mother's info from her facebook or anything, just to clarify, but as I was googling her store name, her mother's blog came up. The mother promotes the daughter's business on her blog.

Anyway....update, I have gotten my refund, and a reverse on the charges (I paid by credit card through paypal).

I'm so glad you got things figured out!

I for one have no problem with you contacting her mother. I think that doing that kept her from getting in trouble with the police, and therefore kept her from real problems.

IMO if you're paying someone for a service you have every right to be a nuisance.
If the mother was promoting her daughter's store online then I don't think it was out of line to send her a polite e-mail about your purchase.

Re: Beyooond bad customer service

I think it was out of line. I would never track down a person and her family and harrass them over Facebook and MySpace. But I hope it works out for you.

for what it's worth, i don't think you would've gotten your refund had you not contacted her mum

I dont' think she would have gotten her money back either. More power to you! IMHO, her mom is fair game seeing as she promotes her daughters store.
