Re: Has anyone driven long distance overnight?
Yep, we do it. Try to get some sleep beforehand and plan to sleep when you get there (ideal situation) We find it's SOOOO much easier on the kids to just drive while they sleep than to drive for two waking days.
When I drive (14hrs and I've only done it twice) with DD alone, I took a huge bag of toys and kept them in the passenger's seat. That way I could keep passing toys back to her when she'd want a new one. (she wasn't big enough to reach them herself, no matter where I put them.) We also make a point of leaving way more time than we think it will take and plan to stop along side the road and sleep if needed. Better to sleep in a gas station or rest stop parking lot than fall asleep at the wheel! DH takes advantage of Rockstar Energy Drinks, too Bring lots of snacks. (purchased at a grocery store are cheaper than buying along the way.) Sunflower seeds are nice because they're not too filling too fast.If you want - pee alongside the road - it's faster and you're not tempted to stop and buy more food and drink! (I can't do this - I hate peeing outside...just fwiw. lol)Have a good vacation! Stay SAFE!
