10 month LO, and low supply
Me and DD are both sick (might be the swine flu) and for 3 nights in a row I had to give her a formula bottle before bed (not last night, but 3 nights before that). I have been thinking for a while lately that my supply might not be enough, but i dont know what to do to boost it. I really dont want her to start weaning yet, and im not sure if my supply is low because im sick, or if it is low for some other reason. What should I do? HELP!

Re: 10 month LO, and low supply
I've been sick lately too and DD has been extra fussy and wanted to nurse more frequently than normal...I think it's a supply issue...I KNOW I haven't been drinking enough water either...just haven't felt like it since I'm so fluish!
I have started eating oatmeal for breakfast trying to boost the supply and drinking hot drinks (to warm me up!). I wouldn't worry too much...try cosleeping (if that's an option) nursing, nursing, nursing...hand pumping the other breast while you're nursing, babywearing will also increase your supply (having baby close to you increases your supply)...and give your worries to the Lord! (saw that you're a follower in your siggie!).

Re: 10 month LO, and low supply
One way to up your supply is to not supplement, the more they are getting from other sources the less they will take from you and your supply will reflect that

Re: 10 month LO, and low supply
Sorry you guys are sick! If you feel like your supply is low, the last thing you want to do now is supplement. Breastmilk works on supply and demand, so the more your DD nurses, the more milk your body will make. Also since you both are sick, it will help her little immune system to nurse. She will get your antibodies to help her heal quicker.

I'm sorry you guys are under the weather! What's leading you to believe your supply is low?
