Newborn longies -how many oz needed?

I'm wondering how many oz of yarn is needed to knit up a pair of basic nb longies? (5.5 inch inseam)

4oz should be more than enough. I'm makin 6-12mon size and still not using the full 4oz

I used 2.5 oz of the colorway and less than .5 oz of the trim (only used trim for leg cuffs and cord)
