anyone make the apple baby doll?
Has anyone here used the apple baby doll pattern? I just cut out all my pieces & will be sewing them tomorrow. I am making this for my baby for Christmas. The pattern calls for painting the face but I am a little nervous about doing that because I am postive she will put this doll in her mouth as everything goes in her mouth she gets a hold of. I could handstitch the face but not crazy about doing that. Any ideas on what type of paint would be safe for a baby? If anyone has any suggestions please let me know & if you have made this doll before would you mind posting a pic of it? If you haven't made this doll before it's very easy, here is the pattern:

Re: anyone make the apple baby doll?
I debated making this for my baby, too. However, I didn't know what type of material to use for the face & limbs. What are you using?
I think stitching the face would be the best bet since babies put everything in their mouths. The face is why I decided to make a tag blanket instead. I don't think I'd be able to paint or stitch a nice-looking face. I'm thinking of making one for my older daughter, eventually.

I am using linens, white linen for the face, arms & pink & hot pink heart fabric for the dress part, Hot pink w/ dots for the stockings/legs & beige felt for the hair. I may just stitch the eyes & mouth. Not sure yet. I am making my baby a taggie blanky too, that's on my Christmas list for her as well.

Re: anyone make the apple baby doll?
I did, but for a 6yo, not a baby, and just drew the face on with sharpies...
http://withatangledskein.blogspot.co...ina-dolly.html I imagine you could do some simple embroidery with floss before you sew the head together if you are really concerned about paints or pens. http://www.susankramer.com/dolls4.html#1. |

oh my goodness! I love your doll! such cute embellishments! The only embellishment I am going to do on mine is put a bow in her her. You are very creative!I am going to use the embroidery thread & do her face after thinking about it all night, I think that's the safest.
