Sock Knitting Q

This is probably a dumb question but here goes...can I use any old sock pattern (written for dpn's) with the magic loop method? I don't have enough needle tips to do the two circ's at a time method and I really prefer ML anyway, but I'm not sure if I need a pattern written specifically for ML. If any pattern is ok, what do I do when I get to the heel? TIA!

I only ever magic loop socks. If the pattern calls for dpns I just put a stitch marker where the seam would be when I am doing any kind of increase/decrease since they typically write according to where on the needle it is not according to the row.

Same here - I put markers where the ends of the dpns would be, since the patterns usually say "knit until 3 sts before end of needle, k2tog, k1". I only use ML for socks, but most patterns are written as if you were using dpns. Once you've done it, it's pretty easy to figure out.

That's such a great idea, should make this much easier. Thanks!
