Clean the screw and the area well. Then dab a drop of Machine oil around the screw. Then go at it again. It may take some time. See if DH can get it undone when he is home. I have also had luck with diffrent screw drivers, Some are better then others.

Aimee - you always give advice that sounds like it's out of some professional manual.

I think it's extra difficult because of how the machine is made, I think DH's hands will be too big to do it. it's hard to explain w/out a photo. I'm gonna see if i can find a shorter screw driver, even tho i was using the one that came w/ the machine.
