Re: Shoes for a toddler?

My dd is barefoot in the house (we live in florida). Stride rite early walkers are really flexible, but with the protection of a rubber sole. Now at 20 mo she wears any rubber sole shoe, but she was a really early, good walker (make that runner).

Re: Shoes for a toddler?

When DD was learning to walk, and then when she was mastering walking she didn't wear any shoes. Maybe we're weird?
She was barefoot at home, and wore socks if we left. If she didn't have a good enough grasp to walk outside, we carried her to the car so shoes weren't a must. They were decoration if she wore them

Re: Shoes for a toddler?

I prefer soft or flexible soles for toddlers. At age 1, DD wore pedipeds and See Kai Run. Now, at 2, the only thing that fits (width-wise) is SKR, and I love that they are flexible but still feel sturdy. They're also lightweight (I was surprised at how flexible and light the first time I picked these up!) so they're not all heavy on a toddler who's used to being barefoot!

Re: Shoes for a toddler?

Of all the shoes that I have for Abigail, I prefer her Pedipeds. The only brands of soft soled shoes that I've tried are Robeez and Pedipeds, and, the Robeez are too thin. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Pedipeds! I'm going to put her in their thicker soled shoes once she turns two :-). I have a pair of brown Olivia, Black Olivia, and silver Naomi.

DD's currently in very hard, rigid soled shoes, but that's because she is just getting over a broken foot, so she needs the support (orthopaedist's orderes). Normally she's in what ever I can find that's inexpensive and flexible.

I didn't put "hard soles" on Gianna until she was two....I just felt her little feet didn't need those hard soles.

I recommend Pedipeds and SKR's "smaller" - Now that Gianna is more active, she wears regular See Kai Run shoes. I *love* their soles...they're protective and soft at the same time, it's really great. I think they'd be fine for even as young as 15 months honestly.

I don't buy into the soft sole shoe thing for 2 years. We do flexible harder soled shoes like See Kai Run or Stride Rites or something around 1 when they are walking well enough. Before that we do Robeez.
