Action BC vs BabyHawk
Ladies I am down here humid Florida. I currently have an Ergo, a Moby, and a sling. I plan on getting a Solarveil Ring Sling or Mei-Tai and i want to get another soft-structured carrier "just for" DH. I was really liking the BabyHawk in skulls print. But someone mentioned in a previous post that the Action carriers are a lighter weight fabric. Tell me what the pro's and cons are to getting the Action Carrier vs the BabyHawk.
Also can someone guide me in choosing either a ring sling in Solarveil or a MeiTai? Which would be better for long term use? Thanks ladies!

Re: Action BC vs BabyHawk
Well the advantage of the ABC over the Babyhawk (for my DH) is no long straps to tie.. My DH is a total "no fuss" babywearer and won't do it if it's not quick and easy. You can also get solid Action Baby Carriers...my DH isn't too fond of many prints.
As for a solarveil RS or a MT...I think you'd get more use out of the MT b/c it's a two shouldered carry whereas the RS is only one and puts more pressure on one side of your body as your baby gets heavier...but that's just my thoughts b/c I'm mostly a RS flunkee!

Re: Action BC vs BabyHawk
Im in Florida too (Jacksonville) and even thought its Dec its still pretty warm here- as you know. I have a 5 week old and have a sleep wrap which can get kinda hot. I am curious to see what others respond as I am looking into other carriers that will keep us cooler even though I love my sleepy wrap which has been a life saver for a slightly fussy baby.

Re: Action BC vs BabyHawk
After looking around I think i am going to get a Connecta in Solarweave for when we walk the beach doing Turtle patrol. And then i will probably still get DH a BabyHawk just for fun. He would enjoy having a carrier that is just "his" and "manly" looking. I think I will forgo the ring sling and just go with a Mai Tai type of carrier.

I think just about anything is hot in the summer
I really don't think there will be much heat difference between the BH and the ABC. I would just go with the one your DH likes best so he will use it And then try to stay where it is cooler if possible As far as a Ring sling or mei tai, they are both great but for different reasons, the ringsling is still great with a toddler for quick trips in and out, but can wear on your shoulder after a while, where the mei tai or ssc will talk a little longer to get on but will be more comfy over a longer time

Re: Action BC vs BabyHawk
Aaaw, congrats on #1, and 2 thumbs up for deciding to wear your first baby!! That's awesome!!!! And BTW, my husband's name is Aaron John, LOL!
Anyway, I think you are making a good decision on the SV MT, and have you looked at the Oh Snap! for your husband since it buckles instead of ties? That may help it get more use, and it is available in the traditional BH skulls or the Morgan skulls...

Re: Action BC vs BabyHawk
Well, I don't have any action carriers so I can't help you there, but the babyhawk fabric is really heavy. My DD didn't like using it AT ALL during the summer because it was to hot for her. It def. does keep your little one warm! - and mama. But I love it, and now that its chilly out she really likes it. So not sure about what the weather is like in Florida during the winter, but we don't have much of a winter either. Yesterday it was about 55 here, so I guess if you don't use in it 80-90 degree weather, you should be ok to go on the baby hawk.

Re: Action BC vs BabyHawk
Thanks for the replies everyone! I found the Solarweave Connecta as an option on their website. I dont know if I will have to special order it or not, I didnt get that far (since I am not planning on buying until January). But they listed like 4 different colors on the website.
http://www.connectababycarrier.com/c...php?category=2 I still plan to get the BabyHawk for hubby, but I definitely plan to get the version with buckles, not ties. I have my eye on the skull pattern for him. So the plan for now is to get the Connecta for our weekly beach walks (during the summer) and get the BabyHawk for DH to use during outings that are inside (mall, movies, etc). Then I will use my ergo w/ infant insert for inside/cooler outings. That way we dont have to re-do the straps everytime we use them. For now I dont plan to sell my Ergo, but if i do i will definitely list it here! When baby comes I plan to try everything out and see where we stand. I am SO excited to wear this little one. I cant wait for him to be here so we can start using all the adorable fluff and using my carriers!
