prefer pf's...but need stay-dry inner

I like using prefolds, but my DS seems to get red without a stay-dry inner. We use wool covers & longies. I've thought about just serging a suedecloth layer onto my PFs, but IME suedecloth only feels dry when the layers underneath aren't too wet, and his PF's get really wet in front first, right where he needs the stay-dry effect. Any suggestions on creative ways to still use the PFs while incorporating a stay-dry inner?

can you try a thin layer of fleece? or even just lay in some cut pieces of fleece before sewing fleece to your PF's? I don't know what other stay dry layers there is. ??????

buy some microchamois or microfleece online... try kidsinthegarden.com and just cut it into squares and lay in next to the skin. You could sew them in if you wanted too... but it doesn't fray so you dont have to finish the edges! I also do this if I need to use diaper cream

I haven't found liners like that to work very well...they still seem pretty wet and they bunch up so he might not have the stay-dry effect where he needs it.

I use a preemie prefold (folded into thirds), and lay a strip of fleece over it that I cut out.

I cut out peices of fleece to lay in. I have some that are cut thin for fitteds and ones that are wider for prefolds.

I was going to suggest fleece too. I'm not sure what else would give you the stay dry effect.

If you like suedecloth, try a Cottonbabies insert sock. You can put a prefold inside, and the sock keeps it stay dry.
