Boots for a new walker?

DS is 13 months and a pretty steady new walker but I ahve no shoes for him to wear when we play out in the snow. I need something that is warm, fairly waterproof, with a flexible sole. He has regular snow boots, but can't even stand in the darn things, let alone walk. I have a pair of baby Uggs that he toddles in without a problem, and they are really warm, but fall off constantly and absorb wetness so end up soaked. His regular Robeez that he wears day to day are great to walk in but not warm or waterproof at all. I've tried putting his feet inside his snowsuit (in the little foldover pockets) but it was really slippery on the packed down snow and his feet were wet (and then cold) in seconds. So what is out there to fit the bill: warm, water-resistant, and soft-soled?

Re: Boots for a new walker?

I have no idea! But I wanted to say that you should NOT get the Land's End little animal ones. I really really debated and finally did buy them. ...and we LOVE them - but it's taken awhile for DD to be confident walking in them. and she was walking probably 6 months before we bought them. Definitely not a new walker. BUT - if you're looking for warmth - they TOTALLY fit the bill. They are the ONLY thing I've found that will actually keep her toes warm!! so when I bought them, I thought, "even if I have to carry her the whole time outside, if her toes are warm, it'll be ok." Now that she's had them a few weeks, she's kinda broken them in and will actually request them over her other boots sometimes. She loves being outside and playing in the snow - so something warm was necessary! GL!!

here's a thread I posted asking pretty much the same question a few months ago

Re: Boots for a new walker?

these were wyatt's first shoes. they go from size 1 to 5 or 6. (either order, or go to your store and if they don't have them in his size have them do a lot locater for a closer store and a coupon)
they say crib booties, but they went outside 24/7 and were pretty waterproof. get good socks to make them warm and cozy. they are lightweight and flexible.

at 13 months, oddly haha

What if you bought robeez a couple of sizes too big and wore them over the slippery snowsuit feet?
Otherwise, find baby uggs (I want the minnetonka ones on amazon, they have a drawstring so they shouldn't fall off) and use a leather waterproofing spray on them?
