Re: Diaper Stink/Diaper Stripping Remedies

I've been CD'ing for about a year now and have been able to, so far, get rid of the smell problem as well as repelling problems. For normal use, I sprinkle baking soda into the diaper pail (tons on messy diapers) and do 1-2 rinses (cold water, # of rinses depends on # of messy diapers) before the wash (hot or warm, again depending on # of messy diapers), and then 1 rinse (cold water). I've found that Arm&Hammer Essentials works well. During warmer weather I also hang my inserts (hemp and cotton) outside.

Around here Kroger carries the Bac-Out, RLR, and Calgon...yay, one-stop shop! I don't have so much a stinkies problem as a rash on the little one's legs where the diaper rubs her. I just RLRed but I don't think I rinsed enough cuz it is still an issue. Right now I have all my inserts soaking in the wash with vinegar and will be sure to rinse till the cows come home! I found Textile Mike's post about detergents interesting and I think I'm gonna try some Tide. Thanks to all of you for your information!

Drying them in the sun always worked for me...before it got so cold. Something about the sunshine seems to take out the stink. And the hard water Calgon that cottonbabies recommends.

I read on another site that doing 3 hot cycles and rinses with a cap full of Calgon in each really helps get the stink out. But I guess that probably only applies to those with hard water. I'm currently in the process of trying this out on my dipes.

Has anyone used Sensi Clean to strip their diapers? A friend said that if her BG OS get alittle funky, she uses that and the smells are gone. Anyone else?
