I use the mesh airflow bumpers as well. Though now that DS is almost 9 months and has been pulling himself up for a month and a half, I'm thinking about putting an actual bumper pad so that he doesn't hurt himself as badly when he tumbles. Before I was concerned about SIDS. Still am a little, but he rolls and sits and everything, so I'm thinking the risk is greatly reduced.

I would be careful about using a bumper once they can stand - they tend to use it as a step and could possibly climb out.

We have used the mesh thing (also helps keep pacies in the crib) and keep the LO in a sleep sack for as long as possible.
