Back pain....OUCH!!

Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to help with the lower back pain I get at night when sleeping? I am only about 10 weeks along and it's killing me! I don't remember having this problem when I was pregnant with my daughter but we forget a lot in 10 years! LOL any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

No suggestions here but I would like to know too. my back pain isn't really lower back though, its more mid back, right down the spine and across where the bottom part of your bra band would hit. Very uncomfortable.

pre-natal massage if you can swing it financially. If you do, make sure the therapist is certified in pregnancy massage as it is typically something a therapist can take after being licensed and doesn't necessarily learn in their basic schooling (although many will still work on you). I've worked on tons of pregnant women and I know it can make all the difference for hip pain/ sciatica/ shortness of breath etc. Also make sure when you are sleeping to fully support your legs and try to keep your spine in alignment.

A change in posture and some simple exercise techniques can help you manage the pain while strengthening your back for delivery.

Hey girlfriend! You shoulda asked me this while on the phone yesterday! I had prenatal massage twice when I was pregnant with Rea. It was glorious. However, beyond that, I also did yoga a LOT, and I went to a light water aerobics class during the summer. The yoga was awesome. I think I still have a DVD I used to use, made by Crunch, called Yoga Mama. I'll look for it and mail it to you if I find it. Noah used to do the DVD with me, and I kid you not, it sometimes put both of us to sleep. One night, he fell asleep on the floor and I on the other side of the bed, while doing the meditation at the end. But I can't recommend stretching enough.

A pregnancy pillow will work wonders!! I swore by mine when pregnant.

Also, a good chiro can help a lot through the whole pregnancy.

Oh yes...I did see a chiropractor, too. Second trimester and some of the third. Don't know how I forgot about that. I had never seen a chiro until I got pregnant, actually. I also did the decompression therapy while at the chiro's office. I loved it, moreso than the adjustments. For about a month, I went once per week. Got a little expensive, but it did help.
