Fabric suggestions for wipes

What are all the different kinds of fabric you can use to make wipes?

I know there is Flannel, Fleece, knit terry, velour...I'm sure more...but what do you like and what others have you heard of?

sherpa is another... so is micro-suede or micro-fleece. I'm not a big fan of the last two... but others use it and swear by it.

fleece isn't TOO great as it really smears moisture around without really drying anything. does that make sense (without getting too graphic). I have found that if you get fleece wet and then wipe, then wipe again with a dry wipe (flannel or other material) then it's ok.

I really like flannel/flannel or flannel/sherpa. I've made some of my own using some odd materials like cotton prints and cordouroy (sp?). It's the really soft stuff, not hard or stiff. But I had scraps of the stuff sitting around and didn't want it to go to waste so I backed it with a soft flannel and there I have it!

Re: Fabric suggestions for wipes

I am planning on making some out of plain old flannel (once I figure out how to use my serger! ). Right now I am using about two dozen cheapo baby washcloths. They work alright but are part polyester (bc they were CHEAP) and I don't like the way they feel.

I love sherpa and terry for the messy jobs and flannel and velour for the pee jobs! I prefer the combo sherpa/flannel or terry/flannel.

All of the "velour" you find at local stores is 100% polyester and NOT good. It's not like "real" velour!! The velour I am using (going to use) has cotton in it.

ETA: cotton velour is what's used in diapers.

t-shirt material seems to work really well too. I've never used it, but ws thinking of trying it on the next batch I do. I got some from someone, and they seem to really clean well.
