Producing colostrum when not pg or just newly pg?

I'm 43 and I have 6 children. I have had many miscarriages in the past couple of years, most of them early. I bf'ed all my lo's and I have never produced colostrum unless I was pg and I have never produce it until late pregnancy.

I am currently 11 dpo and am able to express colostrum. I have been taking Wild Yam (which is supposed to act as natural progesterone) for the last 2 cycles. I did a bit of research and found that some women HAVE had colostrum in very early pregnancy, but also others that are not pregnant and still produce it.

SO, just wondering if anyone else has had this happen as an early pg symptom? DH is buying tests today, but I have hours to kill before he gets home

Just wondering, how do you know you couldn't express colostrum before (as in what made you see if you could?) Only asking bc my sister could squirt out milk YEARS after her son (only child) was weaned. i mean, years!! lol.
And yes, you can produce it very early in pregnancy. GL mama!

This time I could express milk (not colustrum) right around the time I got my BFP. I didn't know if it had anything to do with it but my dd weaned 15 months ago.

My friend was producing colostrum very newly pregnant. She had an appt for her thyroid and mentioned it to her dr and they did a blood test for pg, and it was even early enough for THAT to be negative. Her DS will be 2 this summer

It could be because of the amount of kiddos you've had. i have a friend who only BF for a few weeks and 8 years later can still squeeze some out. I can still squeeze some out from DD, but I only weaned her about 3 months ago.

Re: Producing colostrum when not pg or just newly pg?

I was actually leaking colostrum for the first two weeks (and a few days before I tested and got my BFP) after I got my BFP and just a drop here and there in between, when I was about 22-24 weeks I was leaking about an ounce after going through a ton of hormonal changes and now it is has slowed down quiet a bit and now at 27 weeks it came back after my hormones went crazy again (I broke out like a 13 year old boy and am in very short temper, lol) so I think it really depends on your how your hormones are handling because my colostrum levels and how bad they are leaking directly reflect that and if you look at how milk production works until you get your milk in it is all based on your hormones.
