My dd did this in the crib and still does it in her bed. Sometimes she'll do it at nap time instead of napping and I wonder if I should just let her come out, but you know what? We all need alone time to just "be", and if that means talking to your stuffed animals or "reading" books to yourself or your animals, then so be it. I not only think it is acceptable and good for you, but I actually think it's healthy for your son, too. I'm glad my dd is comfortable being alone. It's a good life skill, if you ask me.
