Presser foot for topstitching?

I just watched a video about topstitching on e-How and the woman switched out her presser foot to use a zipper foot for topstitching. What foot do you use?

Re: Presser foot for topstitching?

I just used my general foot, but I've never sold anything I've made so the topstitching never had to be super accurate. DH just got me a 1/4" quilting foot for Christmas that can be used for topstitching as well... so I'll be using that one from now on!

Never thought about it. I just use my zigzag foot that I use for most everything. I may try a clear foot or zipper foot next time.

I have never changed out either. It sounds like a good idea though.

Re: Presser foot for topstitching?

I use an overedge foot. It has a little bar for me to keep the edge of the fabric against and gives me a perfect 1/8" topstitch. I move my needle to the left to get a 1/4" topstitch.
