Homeschool Chat Summer 2018

So I'm way behind on my book ordering for the fall and we aren't even done with some of our subjects.

Have you ever found something you really like but your kid doesn't? I love Spelling Power and two of my kids really did well with it. My fourth hated it. He likes a Reason for Spelling. I don't dislike it but Spelling Power is so effective and inexpensive.

Yep. Learning Adventures. I really liked it, but it didn't work out for us. There was a history curriculum we tried one year like that, too. We also tried Sonlight one year, but neither Autumn or I really liked it.

We have not technically finished the school year, but partly that is because we've had so many people in and out of the house this past month. I do need to nail down what classes Aiden is doing this fall, and I have some curriculum to order. Tomorrow I am picking up the consumables for Aiden's geography, which he'll go ahead and get started on. It's going to be such a stupidly hot summer that I don't think we're really going to take a full summer break.

We are still trying to finish up the year and for the first time will be schooling all year long. We dropped to three days a week due to too many commitments and truthfully I enjoy it more. Now we will see if I still do come August.

I know nothing about homeschooling, but there were a lot of books at Goodwill today. Thanks must be the time of year people are shedding their stuff, if you're up for shopping for it that way.

I need to check the book section the next time I'm at Salvation Army etc.

I'm waiting on information on a different coop. It only meets once a week which I would prefer.

Homeschool gym is ending this Friday. We will definitely continue with that in the Fall.

Has anyone used Spelling You See?

We're all set for next year. We go year round and it technically switches July 1. Wish I had gotten on the ball and sold half my sonlight and MFW stuff, but now it'll have to wait.

Re: Homeschool Chat Summer 2018

I'm successfully selling some books to pay for new books so that's been good. I thought it might be too late but apparently not.

I'm overwhelmed with writing my report but now that I don't have a house guest it might get easier.

I have to include my high schooler this time so that's going to be interesting. Done it before but it does add more to what I have to plan.
