2016: will keep trying

Are any June mamas on the board at all?? Please post updates!

I'm 20w and was told I've gained too quickly at my most recent appointment, lol. I laugh bc I have a small frame at baseline so this makes me laugh. But I'll admit that I've have been eating until I'm WAY beyond full. I'm conscious of it now and I'll try harder though.

If you are healthy I don't know why they freak over weight gain! My Dr is the same way and he has seen me get down to the same healthy prepregnancy weight after all 5 babies, plus I am always super sick first timester and then tend to gain a lot during the second trimester to kind of make up for being so sick and then the last trimester it slows. Im 5'6 and i started at 135ish and I'm just about 150lbs right now at the middle of my 20th week.

I'm with you then- except for the history I've gained 13lb, but 7 were in the last month which was their concern. I feel "bad" only bc I know I've been making poor habits by eating beyond the "full" feeling. Which I don't normally do-.

I started each of my pregnancies overweight so they only allow me to gain 15# the entire pregnancy. It's kind of crazy. But I work out and watch what I eat and I still get grief when I'm not on the exact curve they want. My current ob got rude with me with my first and I went off so now they just breifly mention their disclaimer and we move on. This pregnancy I'm over halfway through and I've gained 7# but I'm getting lots of cautious warnings. :/ u often wonder what it would have been like if I had known about my thyroid issue before my first pregnancy. I'd love to lose the weight and then get pregnant. Oh well maybe next time.

Re: 2016: will keep trying

Hi ladies! I'm here, though I haven't checked in in a while since the board has been so quiet. It's so frustrating when your care providers are so pushy and rude about weight gain. I am 5'8, was 180lbs before pregnancy and I am 183# now. I have gained a lot of weight and started at the same starting point before pregnancy pretty much every time but my first (when I was very young, and about 140#). Each pregnancy I gain about 35-40lbs. My midwife never hassles me though. With my third baby I gained 40# and was back at my pre-pregnancy weight at one week postpartum and all I did was lay in bed breastfeeding!! Your body knows what to do.

I have no explanation for why I've only gained 3lbs this time. I did have a stomach bug where I lost about 5lbs, but regained that pretty quickly once I was able to eat and drink again. I'm not any more active than I was before, diet is mostly the same, if not a little worse because I am nauseous a lot! I live in carbs like crackers. Baby is measuring slightly ahead. I was afraid my midwife would get worried but she just said your body knows what it's doing! Baby looks fine so just let it be. We'll see.
