Re: If you could start from scratch...

I love the Rumparooz covers I purchased while pregnant. My LO is 3 months old also. I started with Prefold and then bought used fitteds. I wish I had started with fitteds. It's a good thing I didn't though, because my LO was 10 lb 10 oz at birth and Newborn fitteds wouldn't have fit long enough to be worth the cost. I do like pocket diapers and have a few, but I don't want to buy more because fleece is an environmental issue. The environment and baby health are the reasons I cloth diaper at all. Not to be posh.

Re: If you could start from scratch...

My ideal stash has changed with each baby... But now I think it would be

Newborn simplex
NB bamboo prefolds trifolded in nb happy flute covers

OS organic simplex
or BG pockets with a cotton or bamboo insert

Re: If you could start from scratch...

Seems like at every stage we tend to turn to something different. At the moment we like our pockets (BG, ALVA) because they fit our fatty 10-month-old better. I liked our GMD prefolds + Thirsties covers better between months 3-7. We had some great GMD Workhorses, but baby grew out of them. Tried to replace them with some Sandy's fitteds, but they aren't quite the same. They are VERY absorbent, but VERY bulky. I end up putting them on baby without a cover, so he can scoot around in the house.

Re: If you could start from scratch...

I hate stuffing pockets so use them as covers and find that works out great. I have a mix of flats, perfolds, microfiber inserts and a lilhelpers carcoal insert love it and the lilhelpers stay dry bamboo liners cant be beat they are by far the easiest the poo just slids right off. I would like to add a few workhorse and AIOs to my newborn diapers before baby gets here mostly have OS covers from my other two kids who are out of diapers now.

Re: If you could start from scratch...

I dont know why but I just assumed that everyone would want their stash to be all of one kind of diaper...but i guess variety lets you adapt to different situations so it totally makes sense! FTM here and the initial investment is causing me heartburn because so much advice is to figure out what works for your baby. But you have to start somewhere I guess

Unfortunately, there can be some trial and error involved. It helps to know that you can use them with other children and/or resell when your done.

I did mostly prefolds and covers but I still liked trying out new things.
