I Kool aid dyed some dappis when my second child was about a year old. She is 4 years old now, I am using them on the toddler, and their color is still the same as it was.

Re: Dappi Nylon Kool Aid Dye Pictorial

I tried dyeing my dappi nylons with Americolor Dyes (food coloring). Most turned out pretty well. The violet turned out blue:
And I really wanted purple, so I took off the rubber bands and dyed it again in deep pink with just a little violet added, and it turned out great!
The brown ("chocolate") didn't turn out brown at all. more of a deep maroon red. I even tried adding a little green, but not enough, apparently. I might try again sometime, because I'd really like a nice dark brown to go with a lot of our outfits, but we'll see if I get around to it. I like brown and pink, so I had tie dyed two of the brown covers and then took off the elastic and dyed them pink, but with the brown not really being brown they're a little funky.

The "deep pink" dye was a little funny and didn't dissolve well in the water, and ended up leaving some speckles on the covers, but since I was doing tie dye it doesn't look too bad. I'm having some trouble with the color bleeding onto legs when we use them for overnight covers, and I thought I had rinsed them really really thoroughly. We'll see if that continues to be an issue.

Ive not used Kool-aid to dye, but with most dye baths you can use the left over, worst case is it will not be as dark or vibrant as the first things you dyed

Ooh, thanks for bumping this. I love dappis, but I had no idea they could be dyed (and for so cheap!)
