Maternal fetal med in Chicago?

Hi mamas...

I have a friend in Chicago who is 10 wks pg. Her midwife just told her she needs to go see a Maternal Fetal Med specialist. She doesn't know anyone with kids in the area. Can anyone recommend any docs in this field? Anywhere in the Chicago area would be great. She's (understandably) freaking out a little bit and I'd love to help her any way I can.

Thanks so much!

Re: Maternal fetal med in Chicago?

I would stick with the big university medical centers. My SIL delivered at Loyola, and I delivered at University of Chicago. SIL was high risk due to having twins, and I was high risk due to a genetic blood-clotting disorder that I have. I have also heard wonderful things about Northwestern. I wasn't super impressed with my Maternal Fetal Medicine dr, but if she has a high risk pregnancy, these are the places to go.

Thanks Sarah! I'm passing this along. We were already thinking U of Chicago but I'll make sure she thinks about Loyola, too.

Not associated with universities, but I went to Dr. Hatoum and really liked him. I was a MW patient (experiencing PTL symptoms) and he took great care of me.

Thanks so much. She actually got an appt with Dr Hatoum so I hope she has a positive experience with him, too!

Re: Maternal fetal med in Chicago?

I have had four high risk pregnancies and deliveries. I had a good experience at UIC and an FANTASTIC experience at CDH. even though CDH is known for being 'anti natural' I had a phenomenal team who totally respected my wishes and worked with me to help achieve a birth that I was happy with with a healthy baby. Dr. Cannon was my main OB with an MFM group that they were assc. with. they were really good.
