Re: Babysitting query

I know you already said you decided not to (and I like the idea of putting him to work in the yard if you like him and want to employ him for a few weeks in the summer).

But, I am going to answer anyway. I voted maybe. I have a hard time letting ANYONE watch my child. My MIL will never ever watch my kids again. The last time she "watched" my DD she had to go some where and didn't have a car seat so she put her in a stroller and left her in the STREET, with my NINE YEAR OLD brother in law who was playing with his friends. When she told me that I about crapped myself. So, not only 19 year old boys are irresponsible, my 43 yr old MIL proved that.

I basically never really go any where without my DD. It's a rare occasion that we leave her, and we ONLY leave her with family.

However, if I knew him. Trusted him, and had a relationship with him outside of church. I saw him interact with my kids, and did a background check on him as I would with ANY potential non-family baby sitter. I may do it for short trips.

Just because his male wouldn't make me NOT hire him, or because he is young. Not all 19 year olds are irresponsible, **** addicted, immature people. I think it would be unfair to not hire him because he is young, and male. Heck, I had my DD when I was 19. So, to me 19 is not all that young.

But, who knows what I'd really do. I probably wouldn't really hire anyone that wasn't a SUPER good family friend to watch my kids. I'm paranoid about everyone, including family since that little incident with my MIL.
