Re: What's your favorite salad dressing?

Any kind homemade.
It's super easy and you can get creative!

Italian/vinegrette base:
Oil, vinegar (about equal proportions) and a spoonful of dijon mustard (or egg yolk for milder flavors) to emulsify and a spoonful of honey to lightly sweeten.

Add seasonings/flavorings: minced garlic, italian seasonings and parmesan cheese for italian; use balsamic vinegar and add salt pepper and garlic; replace dijon with jam and add crushed frozen fruit for fruity vinegrettes; replace vinegar with citrus juice and add zest for citrus vinegrattes; replace oil with bacon grease for hot bacon honey mustard...or whatever you can create.

For creamy dressings base:
3/4 sour cream 1/4milk, half/half or cream.
Ranch add onion powder, garlic powder, parsley, salt, pepper. Let meld in fridge for a few hours. Add bacon crumbles for bacon ranch.
Blue cheese replace parsley with blue cheese.
I've never made caesar, but there are lots of recipes floating around.

I have a few favorites depending on the kind of salad I'm making. For just a traditional garden salad, I like this sweet onion dressing I get from a local farm stand. If I can't get to the farm stand, there's something similar at the local grocery store. It's not quite as good, but its ok. The salad I like to bring for parties and stuff has apples, cranberries, Gorgonzola and some other goodies. My favorite dressing for that is a homemade orange poppyseed. If I'm in the mood for more of a Greek style salad with olives and feta, I prefer a really simple balsamic vinaigrette.

honey instead of corn syrup.

pectin is used to thicken. you could probably use corn starch.

A simple balsamic vinaigrette or nothing at all. I love my veggies raw and love to taste the flavors of each veggie itself together with the others. I cant stand a coated mix of calorie/fat/chemical thick goo that makes it all taste the same Why would anyone do that to those poor yummy flavorful veggies

This comment reminds me of that PSA from childhood about not drowning your food in ketchup, mustard or goo...

mmmmmm.... salad.....
Is that honey ginger dressing the stuff they use at those hibachi grill places? Cause that I my mostest favoritest dressing in the whole world. I eat my salad and at least one other (not everyone in my family appreciates it, so there's plenty of extra). Oink.

Okay, I officially couldn't find ANY of the brands/types you ladies posted. I need to start shopping elsewhere. Lol but I did find a raspberry vinaigrette, and Olive Garden's dressing has dropped a couple $$ since I checked last. So I got those two. I'd also loooove to find the ginger dressing hibachi grills use. My favorite.

It calls for corn syrup, but try it without. I doubt it will affect the flavor.
