Trying to get my milk back.

My twins are 3 weeks old and after suffering from hellp syndrome I have no milk at all due to the meds I was on. Now I want to try to get my supply back, any suggestions? I have been trying to get them to latch again but that doesn't always work or last long.

Pumping, rest, supplements, latching, maybe a SNS.

It used to be said that it takes as long as you stopped to work your supply back up. So three weeks in your case.

Re: Trying to get my milk back.

Pump in three hour intervals all day long. Sends signal to body that babe needs more and body will accommodate. Brutal but always worked for me. One day or two should let you know if the strategy is working. You will get more milk in the pump. Feed your baby first, and that would count as a session as long as babe feeds for at least 25 minutes or so. Be sure to use both sides so if babe only ate well on one, pump the other.

Re: Trying to get my milk back.

I feel you, mama. I had the same thing happen with my first kiddo. I drank lots of Mother's Milk Tea, pumped for 15 minutes after feeding, and then pumped for an hour (10 minutes on, 5 minutes off) at the end of the day. It's rough but it got my supply up somewhat. I'd ask for a hospital pump!

The following helped me:
MotherLove More Milk Plus
