Re: Do you let your kids get dirty?

I absolutely let my kids get dirty!! I don't release them into the mud every day or anything, but sometimes getting dirty is just what we need.

Yes! this is why we've got ripped and torn clothes specifically for playing in the laundry area. If DS2 is happiest when he's climbing and crawling into dirt and mud. DS1 could care less about getting really dirty, but with the way he plays, it's just a side effect.

Yep. I love it when the bathwater at the end of the day turns totally brown; it makes me feel like they had a good day.

Not really. They do play in the rain when it rains here (which is RARE) but it did 2 weeks ago and they were soaked, but not the mud and stuff. I am sure if we lived somewhere where rain and mud were regular then they might every once in a while.

They do play in the sand/dirt and they do finger paint and stuff.

I do now let my kids get really dirty if they want. My dd#1 loves to get dirty but ds doesn't. It is rare that he does. I used to not let them because I didn't want them to ruin their clothes but I think now its more important they have fun

Re: Do you let your kids get dirty?

yes, but also depends on the situation.

I have let DS play out in the rain also. He splashes in the big puddles, gets soaked and loves it. DS also was allowed to play in his food as a baby after he was done eating, he fed himself, which in itself is messy, some days he was covered from head to waist(his legs were covered by the tray) in food, because he would dump his food on his hair, and he had a ton of hair.... some times we would drag the chair in the bathroom because he was so soaked in food we did not want to pick him up. a few he would draw on the walls with the food before we would notice....hahaha.

Now I wont allow this ALL the time, but I don;t see why kids cant have fun and get messy. It IS a part of being a kid!

Re: Do you let your kids get dirty?

Of course! Just about anything is washable, and if not, it's probably worth the experience! Some of my favorite memories from when I was a kid are of my cousins and I playing in huge mud puddles by my house. I wouldn't want to deprive my kids of that.
