Red blotches on arms?

DS is nearly 7 months. The past week or so, he has gotten these blotchy red marks on the inside of his elbows (in the bending area. One side has 6 blotches, the other has 4. They vary in size, one is as big as a nickel. They dont seem to hurt him. They seem like they could be dry, and th two largest ones are shiny when you look at them from an angle.
now, he does drool a lot, and sucks on his fingers and thumbs, so I thought maybe it was from being damp?

Anyone have any ideas?
I have been using Aveeno moist.cream, and it seems to do nothin.

if it's dry and almost scaly, it sounds like atopic dermatitis...???

(those pictures are pretty severe...FYI)

My son gets patches of dry scaly skin, I always asap put on Aquaphor (yes, petroleum based) but it works really quickly to stop it from getting worse and healing...

Could also be hives...check out the rest of his body & see if any of it is broke out as well

Or if its due to heat, try putting some cornstarch or baby-powder on the area to keep it dry

My girls get eczema like that in their elbow pits and behind their knees. Once you get the initial break out cleared up, keep an eye on it. And any time you see the slightest pinkness, lather him up with a good lotion. I really like the Eucerin that comes in a tub for this, or even Aquaphor's Calming Creme. They're great preventatives since the eczema treatments aren't really great to use for long term prevention most of the time.
