Re: Back to school 2018-2019

I started this a long time ago but off the top of my head:

1.A Well Trained Mind
2. A Charlotte Mason book
3. Catherine Duffy
4. Homeschooling the Early Years
5. Handbook of Nature Study

There are many more....

I wish I had found the nature study book earlier. I find that my older kids are academically smart but had gaps in their knowledge of the immediate natural world around them. Their intership helped them fill some of those gaps but I plan to be more cognizant of that with my youngest.

3. Are you thinking of Cathy Duffy or Catherine Levinson maybe?

Can't believe your library has a homeschool section, neat!

Re: Back to school 2018-2019

We don't have a homeschool section either! We have a teeny little library. I've actually considered shelling out for a membership in the big town an hour away, but I'm a little worried about how that would go, and it isn't that cheap, so I haven't done it yet.

What kind of library is it that you would have to pay?

I *think* we're doing well with the new curriculum--this morning my oldest 3 put on Vivaldi while doing their art--but the first word in the Greek Roots study is biblos which resulted in the 2 year old replying indignantly to his siblings, " I'm not bibwiocwast, I'm Caweb!" What's a biblioclast, you ask? A destroyer of books. And yes my dear Caleb, I'm afraid you are.

Kids!

It's just a lot bigger/better library system in a different county. That's the reason we would have to pay, because we don't live in their district. But they have tons more books available, a drive through window(!!), more programs, etc.

Re: Back to school 2018-2019

I just heard of paying for a library for the first time last night. I was totally shocked by that.

Bibliocast! That's hilarious.

Went to the homeschool support meeting for the big co-op. Walked away with some good ideas and advice. It went too long though and it was really dark driving home. I've never done a homeschool support meeting and even though I've been doing this for a while I think I will benefit.

Day 2 of school and so far so good.

Re: Back to school 2018-2019

I don't have a certain feeling yet .. On the one hand, I am very excited, new studying year means all this pleasant mess, buying new stuff, celebrating first day at school, meeting friends after vacations. I love going to special fairs, choosing new school appliences, etc. But I hate all the stress which comes with the home tasks and possible bad marks, I am already scared huh. I am seriously planning to use services of mc2 experts as I feel junior is really overloaded with assignments, sometimes we both can't cope with all the tasks, that's an awful feeling when you're helpless in face of science lol.
