Watermelon?

Is it an ok first BLW food?

My lo is 6 mos and he wanted nothing to do with avocado or banana. Banana I may keep trying but avocado he threw up hours after eating it and didnt really enjoy eating it.

Anyway, he has a strong suck reflex and a couple days ago I was eating watermelon and held a little piece up for him and he LOVED it cause he could suck the juice out of it. I havent given him any since but was wondering if yall thought it was an ok food to give to him on his own since I already saw he like it and its something we always have in the fridge.

Re: Watermelon?

Yes it's good...it's mostly water

Even giving him some frozen pieces in a silicone feeder would be good when he starts teething (grapes frozen are good too in a feeder)

Re: Watermelon?

Every article Ive read praises banana, avocado, and sweet potatos and weve pretty much struck out with 2 of those lol I just wasnt sure if I was missing some reason watermelon wasnt ok. Glad to hear its a go.

We do frozen breastmilk in a mesh feeder for his teetb and he LOVES that. Watermelon and grapes are good ideas too, thanks!

Ive never even considered freezeing watermelon, not sure why.

Re: Watermelon?

It's great for babies who are just starting with solid foods. The taste is lovable and for sure the little ones will its smell and taste. you can also juice it up.
