I love them, and when they outgrow them as a dress, they can usually put them over jeans or leggings as a tunic top, and put a long sleeved shirt under one over leggings in the fall/winter/early spring

Re: Moms with daughters, quick question

I like them a lot for preschool girls and toddlers. They start out as dresses and end up as shirts and there are a million ways to play with the simple pattern to make it different each time. I always tac the ribbons down in the casing so they don't slide out in the wash. I have also found that fabric works very well for ties and those ones don't come untied as easily.

They are super easy to move in for my DD. She actually tends to pick the pillowcase dresses, erm, most of them have graduated to tunic size, when she picks out her clothes.

I also like that you can stick a t-shirt or turtle neck underneath them.

Total randomness: I saw a tiered one once. I guess that's not so much a pillowcase dress then, but it had the top like a PCD and then a couple of gathered tiers with a ruffle at the bottom. I kind of liked it.

I think they're super cute, but only have one for DD. The straps always come undone and if that happens, she'll take the whole thing off. Let me tell you, having an almost 3 y/o streaking in just underwear is not exactly appropriate.

I have one for DD that is black and red which she wears with her black Chucks....so I tend to think it's adorable and we get comments everytime she wears that outfit

Re: Moms with daughters, quick question

I love them and have made several for dd. I've used regular cut fabric as well as using pillowcases and I definitely prefer using pillowcases. They're already hemmed! All you have to do is cut out the arms, sew the casing, and voila!
