Re: things i've rescued from my child's mouth

My 8 month old is the same way. Paper, receipts, stickers, water bottle caps. The thing he LOVES most, and finds at least every day is freaking POPCORN KERNELS. I do not know WHERE they come from. Even if DH hasn't eaten popcorn in days, and I've vacuumed every day since then, DS has the ability to find one.

This post cracked me up.

SO far, just a piece of paper that lord only knows where it came from. There was no paper anywhere near her when I sat her down (she is not mobile yet) I turned my back for one second turned back around to see her stuffing something in her mouth and it was a pretty big piece of paper. After I scoooped it out of her mouth she gives me the most indignant look as if to say:"Mommy, I was planning on eating that you know!"

The worst thing I remember having to take out of her mouth is one of those removable razorblade heads that go on my husband's Mach 3 shavers. TWICE! And one incident was months later than the first.

I had a keepsake box with all the things from my daughter's birth, including her dried umbilical cord in a bag. When she was about 15 months, I came into the room to find her chewing on it!

Re: things i've rescued from my child's mouth

Oh man! I love this!
My niece had dog poo once too

The worst is when I first spot him munching away and I know that I didn't give him anything. And then the battle is on to get whatever "it" is out without shoving it down the black hole or stabbing him with my talons.

Our list: paper, clothing tag, a bead that I have never seen in our house and still have no clue where it came from, a bird seed, piece of hay, a leaf, dog food, and 3 little tiny dead beetle bugs. He has an amazing ability to find those bugs! Why?!

Once when my DD was a bit younger she almost choked on a penny and I had to reach in her mouth and smack on her back to get it out. She often puts random things in her mouth and then screams like I'm a mean mommy when I yank stuff out!

Re: things i've rescued from my child's mouth

Oh my, I remember those days! He's a little better now at almost 2, but when he was crawling it was awful

I've pulled out:
rocks of all shapes and kinds
leaves
dog food
dirt
a screw (totally DH's fault!)
paper
receipts
wood chips

I'm sure there is more that I can't think of!

My face. Kid is obessed with trying to fit my entire face in his mouth right now.

Not a waking second of his day does he NOT have something shoved in his mouth, so I try and be somewhat dilligent about what he is around. However, clumps of cat fur is a big one (because he drools all over his hand, and then he grabs at the cat, and wet hand + cat fur = giant furball). I'll look at him and he'll smile this sweet baby smile and he'll have half a cat hanging out of his mouth.

He isn't mobile yet, I can only imagine the fun things I'll be digging out soon enough...
