Converting a maya ring sling into a mei tai?

Hi! I have a beautiful size large maya wrap ring sling in bright stripes. Unfortunately, I never found the shoulder as comfortable as my comfy joey, so we never used it. I still use the CJ for quick trips in and out of the car with my 15-month-old, but for longer walks we now use a Mei Tai. He has just started to outgrow the babyhawk, so I am looking at options for toddler carriers. I would love to try a wrap conversion Mei Tai now that he is getting heavier. Do you think there is anyone who would be able to convert my maya ring sling into a mei tai? Is this crazy? I just love the fabric, so I would love to be able to do something with it! Feel free to send me any suggestions of people you know who could do this for me. Thanks!

I don't think that a ring sling will give you enough fabric to convert to a MT. Most WCMT converters ask for at least a size 5 (4.2m) or a size 6 (4.6m) wrap.

I converted a wrap into a Mei Tai here recently. We just used the wrap fabric (plus my usual reinforcements) as the main body panel and my standard straps. It worked out great, the Mama got to keep the wrap she loved in a way she would use more often.

Here's how it turned out:
