What brand cereal?
I'm trying to plan ahead for when baby starts solids. What brand cereal do you recommend? Also I was thinking oatmeal would be healthier than rice cereal. Thoughts?

To be honest, there isn't a whole lot of nutritional value in baby cereal. I skipped it together with my last few babies. You might want to look up baby led weaning. We have found it so much easier than purees. If you still want to do purees then you can go straight to veggies and fruit. Cereal isn't necessary

My first didn't even like the rice cereal. He had one bite. I also tried to make my own baby food cubes to freeze... For whatever reason he hated those too. Only liked jars & pouches. But I always used a spoon. Not straight from the pouch. Now with my second... if my food is shareable, I do that. Otherwise I put some store bought baby food on a spoon and let him play/eat. Or give him banana or avocado. He likes those a lot. He also once stole a huge broccoli off my plate and played/munched on/destroyed that while we ate dinner. ![]()

Re: What brand cereal?
If you feel you must do cereal, please try to go organic, as grains are usually genetically modified and a chemical intensive crop. Like many others, we completely skipped cereal. My daughter's first solid food was avocado and banana mashed together. She loved it and ate it until 2+yrs, which I loved because of all of the healthy fats, etc.

Re: What brand cereal?
Unlike previous poster, I don't object to genetically modified nor feel organic is significantly better for you. I do however object to feeding my children empty calories hyped up on multivitamins in an effort to make the empty calories appear somehow healthy. Therefore, I do not feed my children baby cereal. Can't suggest a brand as I think they are all equally bad for babies.

Re: What brand cereal?
I skipped baby cereal with all 4 of mine. We start with purred sweet potatoes, mashed bananas and avocados.
