waiting to start solids?

I've waited a bit with most of my kids. My daughter was close to a year before she started much of any solids. Is there any harm in waiting?

No harm. Each kid is different.

Don't let others make you think you need to rush into it. No harm and take your time

Re: waiting to start solids?

Our pedi always says solids before a year is just for fun anyway. I don't see any harm

I was going to try to do that to. What signs do you look for? Baby grabbing plates and trying to hit your fork?

Re: waiting to start solids?

Will they be pickier if they aren't introduced before a year? I have no idea... Just curious. I have a 6 month old and have been dragging my feet to get introduce him to solids. Good to know it isn't absolutely necessary

It makes me happy to hear this. I feel pressured to start but I'm in no rush.

Re: waiting to start solids?

My first, now 4, started on solids close to 1 yr........NOT a picky eater at all.
My second, now 2, was interested much earlier at around 9 mos, NOT a picky eater at all. This kid will TRY anything you put in front of him.
LO is 7 mos old and is SUPER interested in eating with her siblings. I've started her on solids. One meal/day, every other day.
All littles are different, their primary food source is breastmilk or formula for the first year according to pediatricians. I say follow your gut momma!

Re: waiting to start solids?

I skip baby cereals and baby food. We wait until baby is ready for soft table foods, around 10-12 months old.
